There are a lot of great kayaking companies on the coast but ...

... only one of them is Steller!

Join our staff biologists and archaeologists and discover some of the greatest natural and cultural treasures of the region.

Sea Kayaking Vancouver IslandAt Steller Sea Kayaking, we offer guided wilderness tours in coastal British Columbia, exploring one of the most complex coastlines in the world.

Stretching nearly 27,000km, this coastline includes islands and islets, headlands and rocky shores, reefs, inlets, sandy beaches, tide pools, lagoons and estuaries. The result is a rich ecosystem supporting over 4,000 invertebrates, fishes, marine mammals and birds.

Sea Kayaking Vancouver IslandKayaking in the Pacific Ocean, we often see some of the largest vertebrates on earth - humpback whales, grey whales, and the charismatic orca whales that live in close-knit social groups. Other mammals include small minke whales, the huge Steller and California sea lions, harbour seals, Sea otters, Pacific white-sided dolphins, and Dall's porpoise.

Sea Kayaking Vancouver IslandIn the coastal temperate rainforest we explore beneath the canopy of Western hemlock, Western red cedar, and sitka spruce. The forest here contains the largest trees in Canada and some of the oldest living organisms on earth. Commonly seen animals include black bears, black-tailed deer, cougars, river otters, Douglas squirrels, bald eagles, great blue herons, pileated woodpeckers, Steller's jays, and ravens.

Our five and six-day guided tours allow enough time to experience the "rhythm of the sea" while discovering the amazing wildlife that lives among the islands, reefs, beaches, and rainforests of coastal BC.

Kris, WOW, what a trip! We are forever grateful for the experience that you provided for us in the Broken Group. We were in awe of your vast knowledge and stories on marine ecology, First Nations culture, and the history of the West Coast. Thanks to you, we were able to visit the islands best-kept secrets, the caves, secret passages, 800-yr-old trees, ancient villages, species hotspots, and the nicest beaches. Every meal at Chez Kris was unforgettable; organic, delicious, and more than we could eat. Who knew that camp cooking could be so good? Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and hospitality. It was obvious that you have a passion for the beautiful West Coast. You are a guide of all guides. Daren, Alberta

Thanks very much for your guidance on our trip. Your knowledge of all the history and the natural inhabitants of The Broken Islands was excellent and well appreciated and really enhanced our holiday. We had one more day kayaking on the west side of San Juan. The guide was a cheerful gap year student, and after our week in Broken Islands we knew more than her about the local fauna. Sheila, England

First of all, thank you for an absolutely outstanding trip -- it could not have been any better. The scenery was unbelievable and having you share your knowledge of the history, culture and ecology allowed me to experience the area in a way that made the made it much more than a first rate kayak trip. I am eager to return to the BC coastal area to learn and experience more. I am sure you will be pleased to know I will pass along to anyone who will listen that the trip was truly Steller! Keith, Houston

I just wanted to send an email to let you know that we had an absolutely FAntastic time on our kayaking trip with Jen. It was really an amazing trip. It couldn't have been any better! She was very knowledgeable, about the area and the wildlife and very fun to be around. Anyway, we just wanted to say thank you and pass along our feelings. Scott, Calgary

This was truly a special way to spend a week, we would recommend it to anyone and feel privileged to have been able to spend a week kayaking the Johnston Straight with Jen and Steller Sea Kayaking. Thank you! Maren

Just a quick note to thank you for such an excellent trip. Everything exceeded my expectations, but especially our guide Jen. She was excellent in all regards. Her decision making, empathy with my wife's sickness, her meals, her patience with our varied group, special attention to our 15 year old son... everything was great.

We had very good weather and had seals swim under our kayaks! A pod of about 18 Orcas played right in front of us for hours! It was something I will never forget. When I got up late that night, the whales were still out there making wonderful sounds. Incredible. Again, thanks for organizing a great trip and for the homemade goodies. I look forward to another trip with Steller and hopefully with Jen too. Gord

Thanks again for the marvelous week, great food and stories. Hope to share some more paddling with you in Clayoquot sound or and Broken Islands. Bernard, Toronto

Our trip to the Broughtons was a memorable one. Hope we can travel together again and that you are having a successful summer season. Ps - Don is still raving about being there and says that any other trip is just a cake walk compared to that one. Margot, Vancouver

I thoroughly enjoyed the trip!! All the guests were great. I appreciated all of yours and Jen's hard work!! You put on a first class trip and I'm sure you haven't seen the last of me!! LouAnn, Seattle

Hi Kris: great trip in the Broughtons! Judy and I really enjoyed it and your stories! Christine, Nanaimo

Thanks so much for making my special dream come true. What a wonderful time I had last week! From your website, to my first conversation with you Steve, to all the e-mails you sent out with such great information Kris, and to the quality of the guiding, the great food, the orcas and sea life, the great kayak friends, the sunny weather and most of all the special people ... Suzanna and Steve. Bonnie, Redmond
