How to Book a Tour    steller sea kayaking
Booking a tour with Steller Sea Kayaking is easy! All you have to do is follow these three steps and we'll hold a space for you on the tour of your choice.

STEP DESCRIPTION
1. Check the Calendar
Go to our calendar and verify that there is space available on the tour you wish to book.
2. Request a Reservation
Go to our Secure Reservation Page and submit your desired tour dates, the number of guests, and your contact information. Within 24 hours you will receive a confirmation of your tour date and information about how to submit a deposit to hold your reservation.
3. Submit a Deposit
Your confirmation email will direct you to our Secure Deposit page. This page includes instructions on how to submit your deposit via mail, phone, fax, or online using our secure deposit form.

Deposit & Final Payment    steller sea kayaking
Our tours are so popular that they usually book up during the winter and spring months, so we recommended that you submit a deposit to hold your space. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, as well as money orders, personal checks and bank checks. Once you submit a deposit you will receive a payment confirmation, tour information, equipment lists, and forms that will help you plan your trip.

Deposit Fee:
To hold a space for you, we require a deposit fee of $250 CAN (Canadian) per person. Your deposit fee may be submitted online, over the phone, by fax, or mail. Checks or money orders should be made out to Steller Sea Kayaking and mailed to: Steller Sea Kayaking, 686 Vesuvius Bay Road, Salt Spring Island, BC, Canada V8K 1H5.

Final Payment:
The balance of your payment is due 30 days prior to the tour departure date. We will contact you by email to arrange for this final payment. If you book your tour within 30 days of the departure date, we require full payment.

Tour Prices    steller sea kayaking
Prices are quoted in Canadian dollars (CAN). An additional 5% GST (Goods and Service Tax) will be added to all tour prices. If you use a non-Canadian credit card to make your reservation the exchange rate will be determined by our credit card processing service on the day of the transaction. If you send a non-Canadian check or money order to pay your deposit or final payment, we will determine the exchange rate by consulting the Bank of Canada (link opens new window) rate on the day your check arrives. Our tours are all inclusive, so the price covers water taxi fares, park user fees, and food during the tour (exclusive of pre-trip and/or post-trip meals). Although not required, a guide gratuity at the end of your trip is a nice gesture for outstanding service.

Cancellation & Refund Policy    steller sea kayaking
If you must cancel your tour, we offer the following refund policy:

DAYS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE POLICY
> 30 days If we have had to turn customers away the full deposit will be retained. However, if we have not had to turn customers away, we will refund the full deposit less a $125 CAN cancellation fee per person.
< 30 days No refund will be given unless we can find someone to fill your space within 15 days of departure. If this is the case only the deposit of $250 CAN is retained and we will refund any remaining tour fees you have paid. To avoid confusion, we require a written/email cancellation. No refunds are given once tours have departed.

If you cancel your trip and are entitled to a refund, we will refund your paid amount less the cancellation fee or deposit, whichever is applicable, according to our policy. Your refund will be sent to you or issued to the credit card used to book your trip within 90 days of cancellation. To cancel a trip please contact us by mail or email so that we have a written record of your cancellation. If you cancel within 60 days, and would like to reserve a tour for the following season, Steller Sea Kayaking will put your deposit toward this tour.

Steller Sea Kayaking reserves the right to cancel any tour due to insufficient bookings. If we do not have our minimum number of three guests to feasibly run a tour, we will notify you 30 days prior to departure and will refund the full amount paid. Because of the popularity of our tours, however, the probability of Steller Sea Kayaking canceling a tour is very low.

Medical Form & Waiver Form    steller sea kayaking
Each participant is required to fill out a medical form and waiver of liability form. Signed forms must be received by Steller Sea Kayaking at least 30 days prior to tour departure date via fax, email, or mail. If you make a reservation using our online Secure Reservation Form, these forms will be emailed to you, or they can be downloaded from our Forms page. If you make a reservation over the phone or by mail, we can send you the forms by email, fax, or mail.

Insurance    steller sea kayaking
We highly recommend that guests purchase trip cancellation insurance, in the event of unexpected cancellations due to illness or accident. Cancellation insurance is usually purchased prior to making your Sea Kayaking Vancouver Islandtour reservation and costs around 7% of the tour price. We also recommend that you have adequate medical and personal injury insurance. Our affiliates at World Nomads offer insurance that covers cancellation, baggage loss, medical, dental, and emergency evacuation in a single policy. Go directly to their web site by clicking on their banner (link opens new window).

Guest Responsibility    steller sea kayaking
Steller Sea Kayaking is dedicated to providing safe, environmentally sensitive, well organized-expeditions. To this end, all of our guides are certified with the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of BC and are trained in risk assessment and management, advanced wilderness first aid and CPR. As with all outdoor adventure sports, however, there is always an element of risk associated with sea kayaking.

Our tours are not considered to be strenuous or physically demanding and we do not require prior experience or a high level of fitness. At the same time, a good level of average fitness is beneficial and will make the trip more enjoyable. If you have any physical limitations or concerns, please let us know. Honesty is the best policy since we are unable and unqualified to assess your level of fitness on the basis of a medical form alone. If you have particular health concerns you should consult with your doctor who can help you determine whether or not you are able to join one of our tours. Other than that, we hope you come prepared to embrace adventure and welcome the unexpected!

Accommodations while on Tour    steller sea kayaking
While camping, we stay in tents and this is generally based on double occupancy. We try to match solo travelers with a tent mate of the same gender. This usually works out quite well since we use oversized tents (3-person tents for 2 people and 2-person tents for one person). If you require your own personal tent, be sure to let us know this and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Travel Arrangements    steller sea kayaking
Our tours originate in a town near to the location where we put the boats in the water. Steller Sea Kayaking would be happy to provide you with detailed information about the various ways to travel from your location to the tour origination point. For general travel information please go to the travel information page for our west coast and north coast tours. We can also provide you with a list of suggested accommodations at the tour origination point so that you can arrive in advance, relax, and organize your personal equipment for the tour. In addition, it's often nice to book a room for the night of our return so you can wash up, relax, and reflect on your accomplishments before heading home.
